In the latest interview with the Hall of Fame trainer during one of their training sessions in their Baguio City training camp, Roach wants to end the Pacquiao and Marquez trilogy with a convincing result. Winning over Marquez is not just enough to concinve everybody that he is a better fighter than Marquez. And the only way to do that is by having Manny knocking out Marquez. The 51-year old trainer told reporters, “Victory is no longer enough. I want Manny took Marquez.” It seems like Roach wants the fight to end the way Pacquiao obliterated Ricky Hatton in 2009, where Hatton was forced to retire from the sport after he was knocked out by Pacquiao in the second, or have the referee call for the stoppage of the game to rescue Marquez from being clobbered by Pacquiao.

But later on, one of the referees admitted to have scored the game wrong and that the fight should have been won by Pacquiao. But they were still not able to finish their business as the fight ended with a split decision, in favour of Pacquiao. Due to the controversy, Marquez immendiately called another fight But Pacquiao declined the offer as he wanted to move up to another weight division.
But after three years, they decided to go ahead for another match and they think the third time will be the last time that the two will be facing off against each other. And it will not for the whole stretch and Roach will be surprised if it did. He said, “I’d be surprised if the fight goes eight or nine rounds.” He commented that Pacquiao has changed a lot since the last time the two fought each other. Pacquiao is now the pound for pound king in the world, and on the latest rankings, Marquez is placed on the 6th spot. He has improved a lot on his game plan and fighting techniques. Roach added, “Manny won’t fight him the way he did in the past.”
